So once again I was asked this question….If you HAD to pick one thing that you love to do the most what would it be?  This question about wrecks me everytime because I like all the ages and stages…. funny little toddlers, styling up my seniors and chasing women in white dresses…. but my mind always turns to these little people…. I love newborns.  I seriously could get drunk on babies.  I love holding them, feeding them &  posing them. I love the way they smell, the way they look, the way they feel. Sometimes after I’ve taken a few clicks I just pause and stare at them.  “All of God’s Grace in one sweet little face”…. a miracle right there in front of me!!  It’s incredible and I’ve always been this way about newborns. I’m just fascinated (obsessed) with them.    So if I HAD to pick one thing…. this is it. This is what I love to do the most.

What to bring to your Child’s photo session| Terri Gillis Photography http://terrigillisphotography.com/blog/what-to-bring-to-your-childs-photo-session-terri-gillis-photography/ http://terrigillisphotography.com/blog/what-to-bring-to-your-childs-photo-session-terri-gillis-photography/#respond Mon, 24 Jun 2013 14:16:28 +0000 http://terrigillisphotography.com/blog/?p=2398 This is Clara’s 3rd Session as part of her set of photos for her First Year. She is FULL of life, energy and just a little doll. She’s so much fun!

The great thing about this session is her Mom put thought not just into her outfit but to spice it up she brought along little hats, bathing suits and the things her girl loves most. Clara is at an age (8 Months) where she wants to have something in her hands all the time. I can pull out my bells and rattles but NOTHING evoked the response we got when we pulled out her lambi…. her Sophie (apparently the worlds most expensive infant teething toy)…. or…. best of all…..her beloved potatoe masher! Who knew a potatoe masher could be so amazing?!?

You want your photos to not only convey the look of your child but also t their personality drawn out as well. Bring their beloved toys!! Even if it’s a potatoe masher!!!

Jaxon – 6 weeks old| Grand Rapids Michigan Newborn Photography http://terrigillisphotography.com/blog/jaxon-6-weeks-old-grand-rapids-michigan-newborn-photography/ http://terrigillisphotography.com/blog/jaxon-6-weeks-old-grand-rapids-michigan-newborn-photography/#respond Thu, 19 Jul 2012 11:21:16 +0000 http://terrigillisphotography.com/blog/?p=2021 I don’t usually photograph many infants at 6 weeks, it not that I can’t, it’s just not your “traditional” time . When his Mom called and  started telling me how important it was to her to get some photos of him soon since he was growing so fast and I was immediately on board with her sense of urgency.  At 6 weeks he’s a 12 pound little butterball.  His little cheeks are so round & sweet,  eyes big enough to  melt anyone’s heart, and his creamy beautiful skin. He’s gorgeous.  Babies really grow SO incredibly fast, the ages and stages just flow from one to the next.  In just 6 weeks his little personality is now emerging and he just loves his Momma.  During the session his eyes roaming, listening  for her familiar voice and he breaks out into a huge grin when he finds her face.     If you think his smile is sweet, you should see the smile that comes onto her face when she looks at him… so beautiful.  Can you believe I make a living at doing this?

Watching them together I am reminded of that song by Celine Dion – “Have you ever been in love”…

Have you ever been in love
You could touch the moonlight
When your heart’s shooting stars
You’re holding heaven in your arms
Have you ever been so in love
